I first tried Spam Musubi in UST. Ever since I tried this little baby, it had been one of my favorite snacks. Legit. Maybe a lot of you still haven't heard of this food so you might wanna ask "what is Spam Musubi?" According to my good friend Wiki, Spam Musubi is a popular snack and lunch food in Hawaii composed a slice of grilled Spam atop of a block of rice, wrapped together with nori dried seaweed in the tradition of Japanese omusubi. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spam_musubi) I woke up today craving for it and since I had the ingredients at home, I managed to make some. Ofcourse, this wouldn't be possible without the help of Google. Here's my version on how to make your own Spam Musubi.

INGREDIENTS:

SPAM

SOY SAUCE. It's not necessary to use Kikoman. You can use other brands as long as it's soy sauce.

SUSHI RICE

NORI SHEETS

PROCEDURES:

Slice the Spam according to your size preference.

Heat the non stick pan and then fry the Spam. (In my case, I didn't use oil because I don't want excess oil since the Spam is already greasy.)

After a minute or so, pour the soy sauce in the pan. I added sugar to make it sweet. There's no specific amount required, it's up to you. Some people want it sweet, some salty.

Let the Spam absorb the sauce for a while then it's done!

Your cooked Spam will look like this.

You are now ready to mold the Spam Musubi. If you don't have a molder, let your resourcefulness come in action like in my case, I used my lunch box.
Add a layer of rice. Again, it's your choice if how thick the rice will be.
Lay a slice of Spam then add another layer of rice. Press the rice as hard as you can! This will make the rice packed tight.

Flip the lunch box over the nori sheet so that the musubi will be taken out from the box.
Quickly wrap the Spam Musubi with the Nori sheet.

 Here's the final product!
My "make your own" Spam Musubi.
Easy right? Go and make some!

It ends here. xoxo
